What is a life coach?
Simply said, a life coach is a professional who works with you to help you achieve your goals in a specific area of your life — this could be business, relationships or personal development. It is focusing on the future and the life changes that you want to make now.
Every coach is equipped with a set of techniques and exercises in their ‘toolbox’, designed to support the specific changes that their client wants to make. Your coach will work closely with you for a matter of weeks or months, depending on your particular goals.
Some people opt to work with a coach to keep them accountable for staying on track and taking action throughout a transitional period in their life.
A life coach doesn’t profess to be an ‘expert’ in ‘life,’ let alone an expert in ‘your life.’ However, by listening to the language patterns you are using, they can easily identify the areas you might be stuck in and present you with a ‘mirror’ of those aspects. You can then see them for yourself, enabling you to reflect and rectify them easily.
When can a life coach help you?
These are some of the common situations that my clients tend to face when they contact me for life coaching, and they are:
- When they’re feeling “stuck” or “trapped” in their life, or have realised that their present situation is not what they wanted for themselves
- When they’re struggling to gain traction to achieve their goals
- When they’re facing difficulties in their relationships and need to gain clarity and perspective on a situation
- When they’re at crossroads and not sure which direction to take
- When they want to make a change in their career and are not sure how to do it.
We can all struggle with mindsets at times. It can be easy to fall into the trap of living a life which makes other people happy rather than living a life which makes us happy. If you think it’s time to realign yourself with what you value most in your life, a life coach can help you!
What is the right coaching programme for yourself?
There are so many great coaches in Dubai to choose from. Coaching techniques used will probably vary from coach to coach. The coaching programme will depend on the model that the coach has been trained in, combined with their own personal style. Whichever coach you work with, they will all combine mindset and motivational exercises to encourage you to recognise and achieve your full potential. Instead of giving advice, a coach will ask questions to enable you to find the answers within yourself.
We show you where to look, but not what to see!
Coaches usually specialise in a particular area, and their programmes will reflect their specialisation. Consider what you want to achieve from your coaching journey and which areas of your life you are uncomfortable with and are willing to explore.
My most popular programme is the ‘Personal Breakthrough Programme’, which lasts for 6-8 weeks and helps in the following ways, including:
- releasing unprocessed negative emotions from the past
- getting rid of your fears and limiting beliefs that are holding you back in the present
- improving your relationship with yourself and others
- boosting your self-confidence and self-esteem
- helping you to create new habits that become a way of living
- developing and maintaining a healthy work-life balance
- and setting goals to create the life that you want.
We are less than six months away from 2020, and it’s never too late to achieve the big goals you set for yourself! And I can help you change your dreams into goals and create real results ‘now,’ not ten years from now!
How to choose a life coach who is right for you?
Most coaches will offer a short complimentary consultation so that you can meet or talk to your coach first to see how well you fit together.
I think the most important aspect to consider when choosing a coach is to find someone whom you have a good rapport with and whom you are comfortable to open up to. With so many talented coaches to choose from, you can be sure to find someone who is right for you and someone who can help you with what you want to focus on.
Before committing or paying any money, I would absolutely recommend meeting the coach in person or online or at least having a phone conversation first.
Don’t be afraid to ask what experience your coach has working in the area you want to focus on, as well as if they are affiliated with any international organisations. And also, ask about what type of training and overall experience the coach has.
Would you prefer to meet with your coach face-to-face, or would it better suit you to have the sessions online? All coaches understand that you have a busy life and will do their best to accommodate the method of coaching that suits you best.
The perfect coach for you is the one who gives you the most confidence that they can help YOU to achieve YOUR goals!
You can find a coach easily by searching online or by asking friends and colleagues for recommendations.
“Walk & Talk Coaching” – a different approach to coaching
In July, I launched my brand-new Walk & Talk Coaching programme! This is totally different from any of my other programmes and offers a perfect combination of light physical exercise and mental well-being.
This is aimed at busy professionals with limited time, who spend all day indoors, prefers an informal coaching setting or struggles to ‘open up’ in a clinical environment.
Are you looking to incorporate coaching support into your daily routine easily? Are you already struggling with finding the right work-life balance? You can walk away from your worries with a 60-minute coaching session in a scenic environment!
Would you like to de-stress, unwind and leave the office environment behind?
Are you at a turning point in life and would like to talk through your options or want to find out whether coaching is the right path for you?
Walk & Talk Coaching is an ideal option if you are struggling with a relationship or going through a divorce or you want to gain distance from your problems and gain clarity. You might be experiencing depressive moods, feelings of burn-out or exhaustion and want to feel revitalised again.
So what are the benefits of Walk & Talk Coaching?
Unlike coaching in an office environment, healing in a natural environment helps release endorphins and other feel-good hormones. It promotes enhanced creativity and strategic thinking.
You can relax and ‘open up’ easily while looking forward instead of directly at your coach because walking side by side can feel less intimidating.
It is great for letting go of stress and anxiety by breathing more easily and calmly as well as helping release muscle tension. The movement helps to shift ‘stuck’ emotions and energy blockages more easily.
Being physically active helps release tension and stimulates new thoughts and ideas. And it is much easier to gain a new positive perspective. You can feel even more grounded as you’re moving forward while walking and leave all that ‘stuff’ behind you.
Walk & Talk Coaching is also great if you prefer not to disclose to a partner or family member that you are seeking support. You can simply ‘go out for a walk’ without raising any suspicion.
I always offer a complimentary consultation at a coffee shop near to you before starting your Walk & Talk Coaching experience to ensure that it’s the right option for you.
During the summer months, I am currently offering two evening walks at Dubai Marina Walk or JBR - The Walk at 8 pm and 9.15 pm with each session lasting for 60 minutes. When the weather gets cooler, morning and early evening timings will become available.
I will be opening up other locations shortly, including:
- Barsha Pond Park
- The Palm Promenade
- La Mer
